Selling on Nexus Market: vetting, bonds, withdrawals

The vendor side is where the escrow design shows its other half: a stake in front, a key in hand and a queue of checks before the first listing appears.

Before the first listing

Vetting comes first here, not afterwards. A new account passes a multi step review before its listings are visible, which is also why the catalogue is smaller than the biggest market's and why the trust markers in a listing mean something: the pool of sellers was filtered once, publicly, and the ratings on top of it are not the only signal left.

Two numbers circulate about the size of that catalogue, 4,000 active listings in one directory and roughly 40,000 in another, and nobody publishes a source. Neither figure is repeated here as a fact, and both tell you more about the directory than about the market.

Bonds, escrow, payouts

No single holder of the money: the market alone cannot move an escrowed payment, and neither can the vendor

Escrow works from the seller's side the same way it does from the buyer's: two of three keys, and the option of early finalization for vendors with a long record. The complaint threads on the forums are not about that scheme. They are about delivery promises and about people who logged in somewhere else, which is the part a vendor cannot outsource to a design.

Vendor questions

What does Nexus Market check before a vendor can sell?

A vetting process with several steps before the first listing goes live, and it is the main lever the market uses to keep listings honest while the catalogue grows. Vendor accounts appear in the directory with trust markers next to them, which is what buyers read before a dispute exists.

What is a vendor bond?

Coins the vendor locks as a stake behind a listing. It makes disappearing more expensive than answering, because the money that leaves with an ignored order was never the property of the vendor alone.

Is PGP optional for vendors?

No. In this market encrypted messages are required for vendor communication, so a vendor without a working key pair loses the correspondence channel buyers use to prove a promise.

How does a payout leave the market?

As a withdrawal to an address the vendor controls, on the same coin rails as buyers: Bitcoin, Monero or Litecoin. The market holds no private banking arrangement, so the payout is a normal transfer on a public chain, and a vendor who wants early release of funds has to be trusted enough for early finalization.
